The Autodromo Dino e Enzo Ferrari first hosted an F1 race in 1980, when it held the Italian Grand Prix for the one and only time in its history.
Indeed, that year was the only occasion in 75 years of F1 history that Monza did not host its national Grand Prix. From 1981 through to 2006, the circuit appeared on the calendar every year as the San Marino Grand Prix, before being dropped for 2007.
The track returned during the Covid-affected 2020 season as the Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix, a year which saw the team claim an unprecedented seventh consecutive World Constructors' title with a one-two finish.
Imola hosted an F1 Sprint Race for the one and only time to date in 2022, and in 2023 the race was cancelled altogether because of disastrous flooding at the track and surrounding region.
Fred's View
"Imola is one of those old and historical tracks that pushes a driver to their limits. It is an old school, technical track that is not easy to get right," says Test and Reserve Driver Fred Vesti.
"It requires high skill and a bit of risk-taking as well. That challenge is what all drivers love, and what makes Imola so special."
