‘The Racing is Always Exciting’
“Austin is always a challenge for an F1 car because of its bumpy nature, and the drivers will feel that in their backs, too!” says Test and Reserve Driver Fred.
“You really experience the downforce at COTA, particularly in the Sector One Esses, which are a bit like Maggotts and Becketts at Silverstone.
“The racing is always exciting, and you can overtake here, which keeps the incredible Texas crowd on its feet for the whole race.”
COTA Lowdown
COTA is one of nine tracks on the 2025 F1 calendar that is fully anticlockwise, alongside Jeddah, Miami, Imola, Baku, Singapore, Interlagos, Las Vegas, and Yas Marina.
The circuit is tied with Baku for the second-most corners at any F1 2025 track, with 20, behind Jeddah (27).
The incline from the starting grid to the apex at Turn One is 134 feet, one of the highest elevation changes on the whole F1 calendar.
Drivers generate more than 5G under braking for Turn 12, one of the biggest of the season - a driver weighing 70kg will experience about 350kg of centrifugal force when they brake.
For the third year in a row, Austin will host an F1 Sprint weekend in 2025, with the shortened format returning to the calendar for the first time post-shutdown.
No driver has more wins at COTA than Lewis Hamilton, with five. Lewis also owns the record for most United States Grand Prix victories (6) after winning at Indianapolis in his rookie season.
