I chose an apprenticeship as I believed this was the best way of learning as I could learn not only just in a classroom but mostly on the job with highly skilled professionals. I began my apprenticeship as a Main Inspection Apprentice, spending the first year attending college three days a week and working at Mercedes for two days. During this time, I completed a Level 3 Engineering Technician qualification, where I developed a broad range of skills including machining (milling machines and lathes), electronics, electrical systems, CAD design, health and safety, and mathematics. While at Mercedes, I gained hands-on experience and on the job skills, learning practical inspection techniques and how to use equipment such as the Laser Arm, shadow graph, Opticline, and a variety of manual inspection tools.
In the first six months of my apprenticeship, I've gained valuable skills - both from hands-on experience with my knowledgeable colleagues and through my academic studies. I've truly enjoyed every day working with the team that builds championship-winning race cars, and I've received unwavering support from day one.
I wanted to do an apprenticeship because it offers the perfect balance between studying and working. I found that I learn much more effectively when I can apply my knowledge directly to real projects, and my development has definitely been accelerated by the fast-paced environment at the Mercedes AMG Petronas Formula One Team. My apprenticeship has given me the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a world-class engineering team while achieving financial independence - it's the best opportunity I could've asked for!

As an apprentice, you’ll learn how to work in a highly efficient, collaborative team. Everyone contributes their tenth of a second in our team – including you. Together, we go all in when it comes to learning and growing as individuals, and as a team.
Our apprenticeships require the following:
You must have an existing and valid right to work for the duration of the apprenticeship in the UK. Applicants who require a visa to work in the UK should be aware that our apprenticeships are ineligible for sponsorship.
Availability to complete the level 3 apprenticeship up to a 42-month duration (or up to a 19-month duration for the level 4 IT apprenticeships)
Evidence of having been resident in the UK for 3 years prior to taking up the apprenticeship in September this year or candidates who qualify for an exemption as stated here: Apprenticeship funding rules - GOV.UK
At least 5 GCSEs (or equivalent) with results of 5 and above. Please note that three of the GCSEs must be Maths, Science and English.
Ability to be onsite five days per week, either at our factory in Brackley or at the apprenticeship learning provider (located in Milton Keynes or Coventry).
We will check you meet the criteria as part of the application process as this will need to be evidenced before you can start the programme.

Successful candidates will receive a verbal offer and, once agreed, the contract documents will be electronically issued. Once the documents are signed and submitted, the onboarding process will begin.
