What Is the Weather Forecast for the 2026 Barcelona-Catalunya GP?

11 June 2026
4 Min Read

At many stops on the Formula 1 calendar, the threat of rain is the first thing fans look to the forecast for. In sunny Spain however, rain in June is so infrequent that the level of heat is the most anticipated factor.

The Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya tests car and driver in all different ways, and with this year’s Grand Prix falling firmly in mid-June, high ambient and track temperatures will push everything to the limit.

The combination of high heat and the punishing nature of the circuit will make this weekend a real stress test for tyres. Track temperatures (likely to be in excess of 50C) will make degradation quicker and far more significant, and the front-left tyre will see particularly high wear. Complicating this further is Pirelli’s decision to run a softer set of compounds than in 2025.

Teams will need to factor cooling the cars into their preparations as well. The risk of overheating is high, and brakes are especially susceptible with three heavy braking zones on the circuit.

Rain is rare enough at Barcelona that the last Grand Prix to see notable inclement weather was 30 years ago. Michael Schumacher mastered the elements in 1996, besting the torrential rain and the rest of the field in a performance worthy of the title Regenmeister (Rain Master).

Here’s the weekend’s weather watch:

Friday:

Clear skies and hot temperatures of 29C set the tone for the weekend.

Saturday:

The heat intensifies for FP3 and Qualifying. Highs of 31C.

Sunday:

Generally clear skies again on race day, highs of 31C once more.
